Autism is a biological developmental disorder of the brain. Due to the nature of occurrence and manifestation, autism is a very complex disorder. The main characteristics of autism are weak or no social behavior and communication, limited and recurring patterns of behavior.
Genetics of the disorder is complex and it’s not yet known which genes are generally culprits. Sometimes, autism is associated like factor defects from day when the child born. Because of that, autism is a group of more serious developmental disorders occurring in early childhood. Symptoms of autism can be different, but all forms of this disease affect the child’s ability to communicate and socially interact with others.
There are many types of autism, each with its own special diagnostic symptoms. The most common forms of autism are:
1. Autistic Disorder-or classic autism
It is manifested as a qualitatively damaging social behavior and communication with limited, repetitive and stereotypical patterns of behavior, interests and activities. Appears before 3 years of age.
2. Asperger Syndrome
Speech development is not late, intellectual and adaptive functioning is not significantly damaged. It’s often associated with a clumsy clarity. A psychotic episode may appear at an early age.
3. Developmental Disorder – Not Otherwise Specified ( PDD – NOS, also called Pervasive “atypical autism”)
Very difficult damage to only one development area or mild damage to several developmental areas, but no all diagnostic criteria for the aforementioned disturbances.
The appearance Developmental Disorder are Childhood disintegrative disorder and Rett Syndrome, because both are extremely rare genetic diseases.
Childhood disintegrative disorder
The normal course of development for at least the first 2 years of life and significant loss of skills acquired before 10 years of age at least 2 areas of development: language comprehension and expression, social skills or adaptive behavior, sphincter control, game, motor skills.
Almost exclusively affects girls.There are obvious problems with the coordination of walking and movement of the hull.Severely impaired development of language comprehension and expression.
Is absent from social interaction.
The result is almost always a tough mental retardation.
